• Minority Access' Twentieth National Role Models ConferenceOne of the Nations Most Prestigious Diversity and Health Disparities Conferences Charged initially with the National Role Models Project by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities and its predecessors to identify minorities who had excelled in biomedical research, Minority Access now conducts the National Role Models Project to include research in additional science and technology fields and accomplishments in other professional areas underrepresented by minority populations. These individuals and their supporters are publicized and honored as Role Models at the National Role Models Conference. Minority Access also honors research from other scientific fields and individuals excelling in other areas to serve as Role Models to underrepresented students.

  • TYPES OF ROLE MODELS
  • STUDENTCommunity college, undergraduate or graduate student from an underrepresented category who has maintained an outstanding academic record and has successfully completed a major research project.
  • ADMINISTRATORS/ FACULTY/FACULTY MENTOR/ FACULTY RESEARCHERProfessor or administrator who has contributed to increasing the pool of underrepresented biomedical or other scientific researchers through teaching, mentoring and or supporting underrepresented students(Or)Professor or administrator who has played a significant role in the fight to eliminate health disparities by conducting major research and elevating he issue as a research priority at his or her institution
  • RECRUITERIndividual who has successfully identified, recruited, encouraged and assisted qualified underrepresented students to apply to college, graduate or professional school
  • ALUMNA/ALUMNUSGraduate who has excelled in any field and can be held up as a role model for underrepresented students.
  • RESEARCHER (NON-FACULTY)Researcher who has distinguished himself or herself in the field by making significant contributions to the field of biomedical or scientific research.
